Big Ships, Turn Slow
Big Shippin’
Hi Friends!
I hope your day is starting with ease, peace, and gratitude. Today, I plan to spend my time taking care of my plants, burning incense, cleaning, cooking greens, and taking things slow. Earlier this week, I listened to a podcast where Bryant Terry talked about the shame and narrow-minded thinking around the foodways of Black people. He shared the ritual of his grandmother cooking greens slowly, which made me feel like I was right there with him.
At my daughter's Parent Council meeting, a parent said, "Big Ships Turn Slow," which resonated with me. I love instant gratification, but when I launched my yoga business, I learned that the process of growth would be slow and steady. Now, in my sixth year of teaching yoga, I am still here, teaching regularly, planning retreats, and excitedly launching my first retreat on Mother's Day weekend.
So, as you go about your day, take it slow, breathe deeply, and remember that big ships turn slow. The things you want to happen will happen, but at a slower pace, and that's okay. Let's be grateful for the journey and the growth
