Shhh.. Let's play the quiet game!!

Whoever invented the quiet game is a GENIUS! They are a person who deserves the Nobel peace prize if they have not already received it and they need a statue! Unless the quiet game turns out to be rooted in racism (which I wouldn’t be surprised about) it is really the gift that keeps on giving and I want to shout it from the rooftops!

I hope we never learn that it is oppressive to make our children play it because you know what… MAMA’S need some quiet! My 5-year-old has been attached to my hip pretty much nonstop and quiet moments have been few and far between, but starting tomorrow.. I may get them back!

As B prepares to enter Kindergarten I am excited for all that she will learn but also excited to get moments of quiet back. Moments to be with my own thoughts, to dream to be!

There is not enough dialogue out there about how little quiet/me time mamas get, probably because anytime a mother says she wants something for herself there is an instant shame, blame, and laws made to tell her she’s wrong. But in my Ray J voice…. I DON’T CARE.

I am hoping for a safe, happy and healthy year for my girls but also looking forward to a few hours a day where I don’t hear my name being called.

How do you feel about quiet time? Do you get any? Do you like it? Or nah?! Let me know in the comments!
